Marketing
Activities on Behalf of Our Authors
Whether your work is a
children's book, non-fiction, adult, or poetry, we
market extensively on behalf of the authors we represent. We
endeavor to attend and exhibit at the three major book tradeshows
which are in the US, London, and Germany.

We have a number of
marketing methods by which we take our authors' work to the
market. These methods basically address the fact that
different buyers want the information in different ways.
Method 1) The LFN
("Look For Now") Process
Method 2) Email
Mailings
Method 3) Direct
Mail (snail mail) mailings
Method 4)
Participatory Advertising
Method 5) Pitch
trips/Trade Shows, etc.
Method 1) The
LFN ("Look For Now") Process
Our Agents are
constantly calling on our buyer contacts and asking them, "what
are you looking for now?" Then when they tell us what
they want, we capture that data and our agents go to the LFN
database and search it for a match. We search keywords, genre,
title, etc. Once a match is found our work begins in
earnest. We create a pitch package that meets the buyer's
requested format and we send the materials to them (usually by mail,
sometimes by email). Then we manage the followup process
(calling, emailing, etc.) The LFN is the slowest of the 5
methods, but it's a good place to start because it gives us an
indication of how closely your work matches what buyers are looking
for in today's environment. The LFN is NOT publicly available.
It is a proprietary database that we use for our authors.
Method 2) Email
Mailings
We have a number of
contacts that we can email about your work. If this is the
case, then we will work with you to build a website for you that
mirrors your hotsheet so that the buyer can click to the site from
the email link. (Note: a website is an optional tool for you, we can
discuss it as we go along).
Method 3) Direct
Mailings
Unfortunately, many
buyers still like to be mailed printed work. We may decide to
snail mail your materials to this buyer group.
Method 4)
Participatory Advertising
We are beginning to
advertise our authors in certain magazines and media that the buyers
read. We may suggest that you participate in one of these
campaigns.
Method 5) Pitch
Trips/Trade Shows/Industry Festivals
We travel, we
endeavor to attend the top trade shows in the US, Germany, and England. We
attend major industry festivals in the US and abroad, in short, we
try to be where the buyers are.
In conclusion, I
hope that this explanation of our marketing methods shows you our
commitment to our authors.
