After being beaten by her alcoholic father for most of her life, she flees with the help of a doctor and police officer to begin a new life in Houston where she meets Mark Bastian. Their love soon ends when she sees a half-naked woman walk out of his bedroom. As to her father, it isn't until her father almost dies saving her life, that she is able to build a relationship with him.

Adam is taken further into the family coven and soon sees visions about his father’s death before uncovering that the family plans to take his and Mary’s unborn baby.  
  • The story eventually comes to a riveting conclusion as the family’s attempt to possess Adam and Mary’s child is unsuccessful. Adam is finally able to bring closure to his life after a vision of his father’s death leads him to shoot his uncle, who was not only involved but could possibly be his real father.
